#MusicMonday: If You Love Me- Reciprocation Is The Answer

When I think about love, I think of self-love, respect, affection, unconditionally with a lot of other qualities that it possess. As I was writing my main characters’ story and felt the love they have for one another, it made me think about my own love life, which is non-existent. (Sighs.)

Each Monday for my #MusicMonday, I would like to post something about love and add a song of the like to it. And I want to share whether it’s a personal story, a poem, etcera to the post as well. At this moment, I can not get into the whys yet for doing this, I will say that it’s something that I had felt in my spirit to do.

Okay, on with the post. I have chosen the song, If You Love Me by Mint Condition which is an R&B song from the 90s. My thought, well the meaning of, on this song is a plea from the man who wants his woman to show him how much she loves him as much as he loves her. It’s a beautiful song and I love the melodic singing.

I feel like showing how much you love a person is better than just telling the person because anyone can just say words. Though it’s nice to hear it, but it’s better to express it through actions. There were times when a person would ask more of me that either I wasn’t comfortable to give, or I give and it wasn’t reciprocated. The times when I wasn’t comfortable was because of the person and/or the situation.

Some people you just can’t be yourself around, yet they want love from you that they aren’t willing to give.

You have to understand that most people don’t know how to love, but expects it to be given to them. I won’t drag this out, but reciprocity is a must. There has to be a balance.

It’s a mutually beneficial relationship with balanced levels of give and take. Relationships that are grounded in emotional reciprocity provide some of the deepest meaning in life.

LYRICS:

[Chorus:]
If you love me
Like you say you do
Won’t you show me
Just how much you do?

If you love me unconditionally
Say that you’ll always
Always be with me

[Verse 1:]
In my heart
There is a love
That’s yearning for you
Let me know if you feel the same
The yearning that I do

All I know is
That I need a love to get what I need
Don’t be afraid or hesitate
I’m trying to make you see how it’s gotta be

[Chorus:]
If you love me
(Lady)
Like you say you do
Won’t you show me
(Show me)
Just how much you do?

If you love me
(If you love me)
Unconditionally
Say that you’ll always
Always be with me

[Verse 2:]
All the words
That you didn’t say
Pushed me away from you
Words of love that
I need to hear
To let me know you do

Seems at night
I dry my eyes
For now I have learned
Lonely tears
They fall the same
When love is not returned
Love is not returned

[Chorus:]
If you love me
(If you really love me, oh, oh)
Like you say you do
(Like you say you do)

Won’t you show me
(Won’t you show me, yeah)
Just how much you do
(Oh, oh, oh)If you love me
(If you love me)
Unconditionally
(Unconditionally)
Say that you’ll always
(Oh)
Always be with me
(Always be with me)If you love me
(If you love me)
Like you say you do
(Like you say you do)Won’t you show me
(Why don’t you show me, show me, show me, show me?)
Just how much you do?
(How much you do?)If you love me
(Love me, love me)
Unconditionally
(Unconditionally)
Say that you’ll always
(Always)
Always be with meIf you love me
(Like you say)
Like you say you do
(Every little thing that you say)
Won’t you show me
(Hey, hey, hey, hey)
Just how much you do?
(Ooh, how much you do?)If you love me
(I’ve got what you want and you’ve got what I want)
Unconditionally
(Unconditionally)
Say that you’ll always
(Always)
Always be with me
(Always be with me)

La, da, da, da, da
Da, da, da, da
Da, da, da
Da, da, da
Hey, yeah
