I try to help people whenever I can, but lately I try to avoid panhandlers as much as possible, especially if they are men. There was this time a guy was sitting near the door of the Family Dollar store asking people who was walking by for money. I was pushing my daughter who was almost two-years-old in a stroller, and as I got closer to the guy, he immediately asked me for money. He said that his car broke down and he needed money for gas.
I told him I couldn’t help him and proceeded to walk to the door to buy what I needed. He wanted to keep talking and was not only holding me up, but getting on my nerves. He kept hounding me about money and I nearly bumped into someone to get away from him.
Since then, I just try to avoid them if I could, but most are up to no good. Others, I will give what I could if I have it. I mostly help others by doing things behind the scenes like donations and sending care items and such. My area has its good and bad, but I don’t want to be out giving out where they are crazed people.
Thanks for reading.
Yes, there are quite a few bullies and criminals on the street, and the mentally ill. Sometimes it’s hard to tell who’s who.
