We all may know The Golden Rule, but do we all follow it? That’s the question.
We always seemed to hear people from different races and backgrounds that may say that you should treat a person (or people) in the way you want to be treated. Though, I have heard others mentioned this verse from the Bible (Matthew 7:12), but most of them doesn’t follow said verse. It’s saddening how someone can quote the Bible and tell others they should follow the “Word,” but the person saying it doesn’t do it. I know that it is a good thing to read the Bible; however, it’s even better to follow it. Right?
I’m not a Bible thumper and I don’t always go to church. Though, I have gotten to know God for myself and have read the Bible just not the all the books. I’m more into my spirituality than getting into a religion. Given that, I will support a person and will not judge unless that person is doing something bad like hurting and killing people for instance.
No one is perfect. And no one should not tell someone how they ought to live, especially if they are not doing so. We all must treat each individual in that same manner we want someone to treat us. And if they won’t treat you like how you want to be treated, then leave them where they are, or whatever you decide to do. Your life is too precious.
So, it doesn’t really matter where a person is from. Or their race and background; the Golden Rule is still pretty much means the same. Treat others as you would like to be treated. Be you. Be true. And most of all, be kind to others.
What does the Golden Rule means to you? And have you experienced people not practicing what they preach or otherwise? Tell us about it in the comments.
I wish we could follow the simple rules of respect, kindness and listen to each other. I teach my grandchildren the Golden rules. It is odd, we can organize a World cup for soccer and we cannot organize a peace conference. I am 1/2 Ojibwa and I believe. Our world is getting smaller and we must learn. One earth and one people. Thank you for sharing the wonderful words and thoughts.

Ah, the Golden Rule! I was inspired to write a post about how parents specifically break the Golden Rule multiple times over.
It is easier to say something then do it, and sometimes following the Golden Rule is so hard, people take the easy road and turn away. You cannot make exceptions.

Yes, exactly. I make sure it’s something that I do. Like this saying I used to hear, “it’s easy to sin than it is to do good.” Thanks for commenting. Your comment is so true.
